What smells are squirrels afraid of?

Squirrels are alerted to all unnatural smells, such as perfume, burning leaves, and car exhaust. Squirrels are very timid and are afraid of almost everything. They are more afraid of unfamiliar sounds than smells. Any slight sound can cause them to panic. As long as things that have nothing to do with food, squirrels will be very careful when dealing with them.
